How is CTMI doing on
Dr. Jampa Khedup, head of the College, will make a Europe
tour this fall. Countries to visit are France, Holland
and Germany.
The entrance exam for the new admission for the
6th Batch will be in October 2010. Application for the new admission
is open.
The 5th Batch students did their 3rd year mid-semester exam at the
end of August. They will go for their annual herbal identification
tour in West Sikkim in the beginning of September. Still
additional financial support for this trip is needed
and we would like to invite you to sponsor (a part of) this trip.
During mid March all our doctors and 5th Batch students went to
Dharamsala, north India to attend the 2nd National Conference
cum Workshop on Tibetan Medicine.
The senior class of nine female students appeared
for their oral exams in March and for the written exam in April.
For six of them the special oral exam of the Three Tantra's was
successfully held in May. After this they had a month holiday, and
now they are doing their internship. The result of their exam will
only be out on the next Chagpori commemoration day on the 6th of
May, 2011.
In the meanwhile we have opened in a new rented place the
pharmacy with the machines which were donated by the Bep
Aten Foundation from Holland. We are very happy that from now onwards
we will be able to manufacture medicines on a greater scale. And
we plan to have them quality checked regularly, nevertheless the
place is too small to meet all the GMP guidelines.
We are happy to inform you that especially our clinic in
Darjeeling town is running successfully in the meanwhile.
Because we have our graduates and a coming up of better production
of medicines, we are thinking of opening more clinics in the near
future.
We will keep you informed about this.
Both the Health Kalon (minister) and Health Secretary from Dharamsala
visited Chagpori in April. The main reason for their visit was to
prepare the ground-work for the taking over of Chagpori by the Health
Dept. of the Tibetan Govt. in Exile (Central Tibetan Administration).
We had a good meeting with them. The Health Secretay visited also
Takdah and Salugara land. The Kalon visited Takdah last November
already.
We are happy that in September 2009, Chagpori’s recognition
by the Council of Tibetan Medicine is prolonged till September 2011.
